Location: McMahons Point, Sydney. Concept & Features: The Blues Point Apartment at McMahons Point, Sydney, is a two-story property designed to fulfill the requirements of a professionally active middle-aged couple. Unlike their professional lifestyle, the residents sought an inviting home that encouraged relaxation and tranquilly. The owners desired an interior scheme that embodied the location of the building, deriving influence from the bay side views. The bottom floor is an open multipurpose space that retains the apartment's public realms, whereas the upper level provides the private realms, with access to each level via an U-shaped staircase. The interior design of each floor is influenced by the bayside vistas and lifestyle, with silver, beige, and white tones dominating the interiors. The goal with such a subdued palette was to offer visual interest through layers of textured materials, finishes, and furniture. Natural oak is used throughout the levels to offer warmth and textural components, contrasting polished concrete floors, grey limestone, and tonal carpets.
